After months of severe headaches, in 2023 came a shocking diagnosis – grade 4 glioblastoma. Exactly one year later, he was rushed to the hospital after suffering severe brain attacks, where his family received the heartbreaking news that he had only weeks to live.

Although he could no longer speak, Declan was never alone. Someone was always by his side to calm and reassure him. It was a great relief for us all to know that Declan was not alone in his battle with cancer,” said his sister Julie. Declan passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. The family would like to take him home during his final weeks of life, but they have decided that hospice is the best choice for him.

The doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplain and volunteers were the heart of the hospice. “They are incredible at what they do, they do their work with love, respect and compassion. Your loved ones are in the best hands they can be. We were very appreciative of the care Declan received, and so were we.Julie picked them up.

In honor of Declan and the exceptional care he was given, the man’s grieving family organized a fundraiser in Septemberwhich raised over £51,000 for the hospice.
