Damage in Leiria after the Kristin depression

One day after calling for an end to deliveries, it now appears that “demand was much higher” than initially predicted.

The Leiria Chamber reported this Sunday that the emergence of new situations flagged, following the , there was a further increase in needs for essential goodsespecially in terms of food.

“After the last appeal, the response from our community was extraordinary”, announced the municipality, informing that the goods collected “were distributed among parish councils and unions, allowing us to respond to the needs identified at that stage”.

On Saturday, the Leiria City Council said that the food and hygiene items delivered had already exceeded the needs, asking the population to stop the delivery.

“We ask the population not to deliver any more food or hygiene items, as the needs in these areas are largely met”, informed the municipality.

This Sunday, the Chamber reported that “demand was much higher” than initially anticipatedso “as work on the ground continued and as new situations were signaled, there was a new increase in needsespecially at the level of food”.

For this reason, the municipality of Leiria returned this Sunday to call for the delivery of non-perishable food items.

They can be delivered to the Municipal Stadium — Door 10where goods are being collected by employees and volunteers who have participated in actions to help the municipality recover normality.
