Alert indicates that the forecast is for persistent rain showers, accompanied by lightning, winds and the possibility of hail until Tuesday (3)
The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo warns that between this Monday (2) and Tuesday (3) the passage of a weather system close to the territory of São Paulo will create conditions for more persistent rainaccompanied by electrical discharges, gusts of wind and the possibility of hail falling in isolated points, affecting several regions of the State.
As will occur on Tuesday and will be concentrated in the west of the state, close to the border with the state of Paraná.
Current meteorological models indicate significant rainfall accumulations, which vary depending on the region:
- Very high: Vale do Ribeira and Itapeva Region;
- High: Sorocaba and Bauru regions;
- Medium: Region of Marília, Metropolitan Region of the Capital of São Paulo, Baixada Santista, North Coast, Serra da Mantiqueira and Regions of Campinas, Presidente Prudente, Araraquara, São José do Rio Preto, Araçatuba, Ribeirão Preto, Barretos and Franca.
The Emergency Management Center (CGE) will remain on duty 24 hours a day during these days and the Crisis Office will operate remotely, with all concessionaires mobilized. In case of worsening of the rains, the Office will be transferred to in-person mode.
Recommendations to the population
Civil Defense advises the population to avoid areas subject to flooding and flash floods, not to cross flooded roads and to seek shelter in a safe place during storms, keeping away from trees, poles and metal structures.
In hillside areas, it is important to observe signs of landslides, such as cracks in the ground, in the walls of properties and tilting of trees or poles.
In case of emergency, people must Call Civil Defense on 199 or the Fire Department on 193.
