She gave up a strong figure! Although Zdena Studenková is one of the first ladies of our theater and sought-after movie stars, she sometimes accepted offers for dubbing. In this way, the professional lent her voice with a gentle ironic ointment to, for example, the American megastar Meryl Streep, whom she looks up to professionally. This happened in the legendary film The Devil Wears Prada from 2006, where Streep played the quirky editor-in-chief of the Runaway fashion magazine Miranda Priestly.
The film conquered cinemas, so it’s no wonder that its sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 is perhaps the most anticipated film this year. After twenty years, however, everything is different for the Slovak viewer – Meryl Streep will no longer sputter her ironic remarks in the voice of our pop diva Studenkova!
The creators of the potential megahit released the first trailer for the film, from which it is obvious that Zdena is out of the game. “Of course, Ms. Studenkova was offered this cooperation, but she politely refused. She explained that she no longer does dubbing,” claims a source from the film industry. According to our information, the actress’s seasoned colleague – Ľudmila Manžárová, who you can also associate with the face of agent Dana Scully from The X-Files, managed to put the Slovak words into the American woman’s mouth.
The film The Devil Wears Prada 2 will once again introduce viewers to the big world of fashion. “The old way, but still different,” is presented by the distribution company CinemArt SK. “Times have moved on and the filmmakers also realized that the world of fashion and media has changed significantly since 2006. This offered them an opportunity to tell a new story about the same iconic world,” stated PR manager Perla Žinčíková, who confirmed that director David Frankel, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna and actresses Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt have returned to the continuation of the cult film.
Film fans can also look forward to Stanley Tucci, who played Runway magazine’s fashion guru Nigel in the comedy. The premiere in 2006, which was broadcast by TV JOJ and has the rights to “dvoka”, became a huge commercial hit. With a budget of $35 million, the film grossed approximately $365 million worldwide. “It significantly exceeded its budget and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year,” Žinčíková added.
