Ice may form in several southern districts of Slovakia, and it may blow more significantly on the mountains. This is pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), which issued warnings of the first degree. He informs about it on his website.
Ice warnings apply to the entire Banskobystrický region and the districts of Gelnica, Košice – okolie, Rožňava and Spišská Nová Ves. “Ice formation poses a potential hazard to human activities,” reminds SHMÚ. The warnings are provisionally valid from Wednesday (February 11) from 6:00 a.m. to Thursday (February 12) until 8:00 a.m.
Warnings against wind in the mountains apply to almost the entire Žilina region and the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno and Poprad. In positions above the forest zone, meteorologists expect wind that can reach a speed of 110 to 135 kilometers per hour (km/h) in gusts, on average 70 to 85 km/h, which is a gale. Warnings are provisionally valid on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
