The proposal, authored by the leader of the PDT in the Chamber, Mário Heringer (MG), changes the law that regulates rights and obligations relating to industrial property
The Chamber of Deputies approved, this Monday, the 9th, an urgent request for the processing of the bill that overturns the patents on the medicines Mounjaro and Zepbound. There were 337 deputies in favor and 19 against.
The proposal, authored by the PDT leader in the Chamber, Mário Heringer (MG), changes the law that regulates rights and obligations relating to industrial property.
The text declares Mounjaro and Zepbound “medicines of public interest”, for the control and treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2) and obesity or Chronic Adiposity-Based Disease (DCBA).
Opportunity with security!
The author of the proposal argues, in the justification of the project, that “the commercial price of these medicines is simply an impediment to the objectives of mass medicine, which today needs to treat more than half of the adult population of a country that exceeds two hundred million inhabitants”.
Once the urgency is approved, the next step is the analysis of the merits in the Chamber plenary. Next, the proposal needs to be voted on in the Senate.
