Grealish undergoes surgery and no longer plays for Everton this season

Everton midfielder Jack Grealish has confirmed his season has come to an end after undergoing surgery for a stress fracture in his foot, dealing a blow to his chances of making the England squad at the next World Cup.

The 30-year-old, who suffered the injury last month, during Everton’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Grealish has played 22 games in all competitions for the club this season, with two goals and six assists. The good performance had fueled speculation about a possible return to the English national team.

“I didn’t want the season to end like this, but that’s football. I’m devastated,” the player wrote on his social media.

“Surgery done and now the total focus is on getting back in top shape. I’m sure I’ll return stronger, more prepared and better than before.”

With remarkable spells at , Grealish won three Premier League titles, as well as the Champions League and the FA Cup. His last match for the England team was in October 2024, under interim command of Lee Carsley.

The World Cup will be played between June 11th and July 19th, with games in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
