PSP union accuses government of manipulating the truth by updating the value of paid services: "They didn't hear or read"

At the end of 2025, ASPP/PSP, the largest union in this police force, abandoned negotiations with the Government, understanding that it is not complying with the agreement signed in July 2024.

The Police Professionals Union Association (ASPP/PSP) accused the Government of manipulating the truth by saying that it had heard the union structures about the update of the amounts owed for paid services, published this Tuesday.

“Of the two, one: either they pretended, or they didn’t hear or read. The current ordinance does not contain a single table […]the proposed increase in the amounts to be processed is not included and the limitations on working hours are not included, among other proposals already addressed to this and previous Governments a long time ago”, states, in a statement, ASPP/PSP.

The association chaired by Paulo Santos therefore condemns “manipulation with half-truths and false consultations”even though it admits that the matter is not a priority for ASPP/PSP.

O The amount paid to police officers for services provided to public and private entities outside of working hours will increase to come in 36,46 e 85,96 euros for four hours, according to a decree from the Ministries of Internal Administration and Finance published today in Diário da República.

O diplomawhich comes into force within 15 dayschanges both the general table and that relating to sporting competitions of a non-professional nature, maintaining the payment of different amounts depending on the day and time of the service provided and the professional category of the GNR and PSP members.

Currently, the remuneration varies between 26.50 euros and 62.50 euros for every four hours of paid services, also known as bonuses.

“ASPP abandons negotiations because the proposal presented does not meet what we would expect in relation to remuneration tables, supplements and evaluation ordinance”, said Paulo Santos, on November 28, at the end of a meeting with the Minister of Internal Administration, Maria Lúcia Amaral.

These three dossiers continue to be considered a priority by the union association.
