However, only 28% of respondents would be in favor of ending of the 6×1 scale if that meant receive less at the end of the month. The research reveals an interesting aspect of the discussion. The vast majority of society is in favor of ending the 6×1 journey. However, when the salary reduction argument comes into play, most people start to disapprove of the project. This is explained by the Brazilian’s income side: most people live financially tight and need that income, which is why they end up denying the project if it takes away part of their monthly income Marcelo Tokarski, CEO of Nexus

Lack of knowledge about the proposal

Although the topic is talked about across the country, few know in depth about it. The research reveals that 62% have heard of it about the 6×1 end of the scale, but only 12% say they understand well the project. Others 35% have never heard talk about the proposal.

The survey also indicates that knowledge generates more support: among those who understand the project well, the approval is 71%. Among those who have never heard of it, support drops to 55%.

According to the survey, opinion on the topic also changes depending on the political side, although it is mostly favorable on both sides:

Lula voters in 2022: 71% are in favor, 15% are against and 15% did not respond;

Bolsonaro voters in 2022: 53% are in favor, 32% are against and 15% did not respond;

Nexus interviewed 2,021 people, aged 16 and over, in all 27 states in Brazil. The interviews took place between January 30th and February 5th. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.
