The Ukrainian capital is facing a critical situation in energy supplies after a massive Russian airstrike on Thursday night. According to Mayor Vitalij Klitschko, almost 2,600 residential buildings were left without heating, bringing the total number of households without heat in Kyiv to almost a third of the city.

Damage to critical infrastructure
“After a nighttime massive attack aimed at damaging critical infrastructure targeted by the enemy, almost 2,600 other buildings in the capital are without heat,” Klitschko wrote on the Telegram platform.
Before the latest strikes, more than 1,000 of the approximately 12,000 apartment buildings in the Ukrainian capital were without heating following massive Russian attacks in recent weeks.
According to the mayor, two people were also injured in Kyiv. One of them is in serious condition.
Multi-site attacks
In the Odesa region in the south of Ukraine, Russian troops again attacked the port city of Odesa. In one of the city districts, they damaged an infrastructure object and also a business center, said Serhij Lysak, commander of the regional military administration. According to preliminary information, one person was injured. After the nine-story building was hit, 23 people were given psychological help. Approximately 300,000 people are without water supplies.
Two people were killed in an attack in the city of Lozova in eastern Ukraine. As a result of the attacks, there was also a power outage, and the authorities are therefore using alternative energy sources for critical infrastructure.

Four people are injured after the attack in Dnipro. Ukrainian Minister for Communities Oleksiy Kuleba announced that more than 10,000 customers are without heat. “This is another attempt to deprive Ukrainians of basic services in the middle of winter. However, restoration work continues round the clock,” he said.
Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 219 drones and 24 missiles overnight, of which air defenses destroyed 197 drones and 16 missiles.
The Russian military announced on Thursday that its air defenses repelled a missile attack on the Volgograd region in the south of the European part of the country. Falling debris, however, caused a fire in a military building and led to the evacuation of a nearby village.
