Opposition party created the “Bloco do Setá Caro, Não Compra” with criticism of the government’s tax policy and public security measures
The (Liberal Party) made a video this Friday (13.Feb.2026) in which it criticizes the government of the president (PT) and satirizes the parades that will honor the PT member at this year’s Carnival.
The piece, called “O Samba da Esbanja”, in reference to the first lady adopts a samba-plot and makes caricatures of 1st level government supporters.
The parody is a criticism of the participation of politicians in Rio’s Carnival. The Acadêmicos de Niterói samba school will pay homage to Lula in its plot this year, on Sunday (Feb 15). The first lady will be featured on the last float, which has the motto “Lula’s friends”.
In the 1st scene, the character dressed in “little devil”, who represents the president, states that “ and suggests that citizens do not go out on the streets if they do not want to be robbed. The excerpt is a direct quote from.
One of the central points of the satire is tax policy. The Minister of Finance, (PT), is portrayed on a golden float next to a lion, in reference to Income Tax.
The letter mentions the so-called “blouse tax”, which deals with taxation applied to online shopping platforms: “Did you fill your cart from Shein or Shopee? Don’t worry, we’ll have to share it”says an excerpt, reinforcing the nickname “Taxad” that went viral on social media.
The Minister of Institutional Relations, (PT), the minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, (Psol), and the president of the PDT (Democratic Labor Party), are also lampooned in the video.
The video displays a car with statues of leaders such as Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, and North Korean President Kim Jong-un, stating that a “dictatorship is being installed”. The play ends with a “applause to the criminal”.

The PL’s communication strategy of criticizing the PT government with an AI video went viral at the beginning of the year, when the party published a video satirizing the reality show Big Brother Brasil, transforming it into “Big Baixaria Brasil”. The video, also shared by party politicians, portrayed Lula and several members of his government as participants in the program, assigning ironic nicknames to each one.
