The United States warns that Iran will be deterred from acquiring nuclear weapons under all circumstances

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed the determination of the United States to end Iran’s efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. At the same time, a possible agreement with fundamental importance for the security of the region was outlined in Geneva.

The United States will deter Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons “one way or another.” This was stated on Wednesday by US Energy Minister Chris Wright, TASR writes, according to an AFP report.

“They’ve been very clear about what they would do with nuclear weapons. It’s totally unacceptable. So one way or another, we’re going to end and deter Iran on its path to nuclear weapons,” Wright said on the sidelines of an International Energy Agency (IEA) meeting in Paris.

Negotiations in Geneva

Representatives of both countries discussed Iran’s nuclear program on Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland. The head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Arakchi, said after the meeting that they had agreed with the US on basic principles that could pave the way for reaching a nuclear agreement.
