Gonçalo Inácio and Luis Suárez visit a fan whose house was destroyed in Marinha Grande

Gonçalo Inácio and Luis Suárez went to Marinha Grande to visit a Sporting fan who saw his house practically destroyed by the Kristin depression. Arsênio Cruz, 75 years old, resident of the town of Garcia, lost almost all of his possessions due to the extreme bad weather that hit the region at the beginning of February.

The case became known after a television report, where the fan showed the damage caused by the storm. Amidst the destruction, one object remained intact: a handcrafted Sporting Clube de Portugal sign, handcrafted around 50 years ago, which ended up symbolizing Arsénio’s deep emotional connection with the club.

The story moved the Leonine structure, which decided to act. Players Gonçalo Inácio and Luis Suárez personally visited the fan, in an initiative that surprised Arsénio and gave him some comfort at a difficult time. During the meeting, the club also invited him to watch the Sporting-Estoril game, scheduled for February 27th, also guaranteeing transportation.

Visibly moved, Arsénio did not hide his gratitude for the gesture: he stated that he was deeply touched by the visit and the attention shown by the club. He received an official jersey as a souvenir, which he described as a true “personal trophy”, highlighting the symbolic value of the gift and the emotional meaning it represents for him.

The fan also highlighted that this type of attitude reinforces the human and supportive image of the institution, recognizing that it is not an isolated case and that the club has had similar gestures with other fans. For Arsénio, more than material goods, what remained was the feeling of closeness, respect and recognition from Sporting.
