Jana Nagyová about the legendary Arabela: When someone approaches me on the street and tells me THIS… Can I be angry?

On Saturday, February 7, the Prague Municipal House became the scene of the twelfth year of the prestigious Czech-Slovak Ball. The event, which has traditionally been held under the auspices of the presidents of both countries, once again confirmed its exceptional importance for both nations. This year’s motto “From heritage to the future” accompanied the guests throughout the evening, which was interwoven with respect for common history and important milestones, including mentions of personalities such as Václav Havel, Antonín Dvořák and opera legend Edita Gruberová.

An unforgettable musical experience was provided by the main star of the evening, multiple nightingale Lucie Bílá. Accompanied by the Petr Maláska band, she performed a specially prepared program, with which she once again confirmed her bond with both countries. The contrast to the soft tones was brought by the legendary Tublatanka. Maťo Ďurinda and his band brought breathtaking rock energy to the halls and with his performance emphasized the strong brotherhood that has existed between Czech and Slovak audiences for decades.

She did not miss the festive evening Slovak actress Jana Nagyová. She also came with her husband and without a watch, so they enjoyed the evening in company without pressure about the time of departure. She told her husband that they would stay as long as they ruled and felt good.

The artist is currently starring in the film Champion about Ondrej Nepel. In connection with this, she recently moved to the very venue of the Olympic Games. The film was ceremonially presented at a special pre-premiere at the CASA SLOVACA Slovak Olympic House in Milan during the Milan – Cortina d’Ampezzo 2026 Winter Olympics on February 18. The creators and main actors Jana Nagyová as coach Hilda Múdra and Adam Kubala in the role of Ondrej Nepela also participated in the Olympic screening.

Many fans associate her with Princess Arabella even after decades. Doesn’t it sometimes get on her nerves? “Not anymore. I’m used to it. In the beginning, when I was younger, it might have gotten on my nerves a little, that why the viewer still perceives me only in that one character. Although I have filmed, when you look at how many films and how many television productions, but today I am over it and I say to myself: I owe every viewer, who is very, very precious and important to me, because we make films for them,” she added.

“And when someone addresses me in the street, or here, or anywhere and says to me: you are the beautiful princess Arabela! Can I be angry? Well can I be angry? I can’t!” Jana Nagyová explained her changed attitude with a smile. What secrets did her visage and outfit hide at the ball? Find out in the VIDEO interview at the beginning of the article!
