TASR informed the department of strategic communication of the Ministry of the Interior (MV) about this. The affected departments of crisis management of the district offices are on alert. Today, shortly after 1:44 p.m., an earthquake was recorded in the southwestern part of Slovakia, near Bratislava and Šamorín. The central monitoring and control center of the crisis management section of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic communicates with relevant institutions. According to the information so far, aftershocks are not expected. The strength of the earthquake ranged between 4.3 – 4.5 magnitude,” informed the spokesman of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, Matej Neumann.

The regional centers of the integrated rescue system in Bratislava, Trnava and Nitra recorded an increase in calls in connection with this event. “We continue to monitor the situation intensively and, if necessary, we will inform the public,” Neumann added.

The Department of Seismology of the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences reported on the social network that works to determine the exact location, magnitude and depth of the earthquake.
