President Donald Trump meets with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Oval Office
“Come on now, we need you urgently.” No one knows for sure what motivated the US president’s message addressed to the Portuguese star.
Donald Trump published a video message this Saturday addressed to Cristiano Ronaldo, just hours before the start of the new season of Major League Soccer (MLS), the main football league in the United States.
In the recording released on TikTok through the US president’s official account, Trump praises the Portuguese international and makes a very direct appeal: “Ronaldo, you are the greatest of all time, we need you in America”.
“Come on now, we need you urgently”, said the US president, in a message followed by a video clearly generated by AI in which both appear playing ball in the same Oval Office.
The context of the post is unclear. Despite the proximity of the start of MLS, Trump did not explain whether it was an invitation for Ronaldo to play in MLS, a media provocation or some other initiative linked to football in the USA.
