
What was going to be a night of celebration turned into a nightmare for Jesús and Daniel Oviedo, the brothers from Seville. The singers were celebrating their 27th birthday last Saturday at a nightclub in Madrid, along with their friends and some well-known faces from television, and upon leaving the premises they both suffered an attack for which they had to be admitted to the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital.
“Yesterday was my brothers’ birthday and what was going to be a special day ended in a nightmare. They suffered an attack that is already in the hands of the police, who we also want to thank for their work and speed. The investigation is underway and there is already clear information about those responsible,” the singers’ older brother and also their representative explained this Sunday in a statement published on his Instagram account hours after the information came to light on the program. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the messages, love and support. Thanks to journalists and television networks with whom I have spoken, for their respect, understanding and treatment at such a delicate moment,” the message continued. “As a family representative, I want to say that they are already well and resting. I will continue to attend to the media with all the affection and share the information so that this is known and, hopefully, it does not happen to anyone else. When they are stronger, they will speak with the closeness and respect as always. Thank you, truly,” concludes Juan Carlos Oviedo’s statement, which was later shared by Jesús and Daniel on their respective social networks.
The events occurred at the Bandido nightclub, in the center of the capital, when the group was preparing to leave the premises around six in the morning. “It starts with insults from strangers who were in a car. They were already leaving in a taxi and began to receive insults, many of them homophobic,” the Telecinco program shared on Saturday. Police sources informed Efe that, around six in the morning, “several people sprayed others with pepper spray and hit them several times.”
The brother and representative gave some more details: not only did they act with violence against the Gemeliers, they also did it against their partners, who were accompanying them at that time. “They grabbed Jesus’ girlfriend and started hitting her, they threatened her until she urinated on herself, literally. They threw them to the ground, they hit her…” A friend who was accompanying them was also seriously injured: “He ended up lying on the ground. They beat him brutally. His face was destroyed.”
Currently, the duo, who became known after their participation in The Voice Kids in 2014,, from TVE. “It is very common for them to have to endure insults, they are made fun of… Jesus passed by, as he usually does. “He went to try to get into the car, but it was impossible for him to get there because they attacked him,” adds his representative.
