The (Superior Electoral Court) begins judging this Thursday (26) the resolutions that will govern those of 2026. A session was also called for Monday (2), on an extraordinary basis. According to the electoral calendar, the deadline for approving the texts is March 5th.
The resolutions establish a series of rules for the election, ranging from guidelines for the use of AI () to issues involving electoral research, candidacies, advertising and accountability.
The rapporteur of the texts is the vice-president of the TSE, minister. In January, he presented preliminary versions of the resolutions, and the court opened a deadline for suggestions from society. There were 1,423 proposed changes, some discussed during a public hearing at the beginning of this month.
As shown by Sheetthe concerns raised with the TSE about the advancement of the use of AI and its impacts on the election, the accountability of synthetic influencers and the use of smart glasses when voting.
Suggestions for improvement were made by research centers, experts in digital law, members of the PGE (Electoral Attorney General’s Office) and even by ministers who are not part of the electoral court’s main composition.
The TSE is also considering signing agreements with companies that develop and supply AI and set up a task force of experts to speed up the identification of manipulated content and provide more technical security to ministers’ decisions during the campaign.
Some of the preliminary texts presented by the TSE may be feminine and impact affirmative actions for black and indigenous people, according to experts and organizations consulted by the Sheet.
According to these sources, the minutes allow the parties to inflate the funds actually allocated to the candidacies of these groups. One of the texts provides, for example, that the hiring of security to protect female candidates is already part of the calculation of the minimum quota of 30% for female candidates.
