Zema highlights that Brazil has become the “party of untouchables”

The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), published a video last night this Sunday (22) with criticism of ministers Dias Toffoli and Alexandre de Moraes mainly for his work at Banco Masterand called for a demonstration on Avenida Paulista next Sunday (1st).

“Why is there so much pressure to stop the Banco Master investigation?” asks Zema at the beginning of the video, highlighting that Brazil has become the “party of untouchables”. “They are those who rule, but are not accountable, they are those who judge, but cannot be judged, they are those who live above the law.”

In the video lasting just over a minute, Zema questions Toffoli’s role in the Master case. “Toffoli has already gotten out of the way. But how is anyone going to judge a bank of which he himself was a partner?”, asks the governor of Minas Gerais, also questioning how a minister who has always lived on a public salary finds money to be a partner in a luxury resort.

“The bill, we know, won’t close.” Zema also quotes Moraes when mentioning “authority with a contract worth R$129 million”, on account of services from the law firm of the minister’s wife, Viviane Barci, agreed with Banco Master.

Zema says at the end of the video that the first chance to resolve things with the “untouchables” in Brazil was during Operation Lava Jato. “Brazil took to the streets, the people put pressure on us, we believed. But in the end, they canceled everything and the party continued”, says Zema. “Now history repeats itself, but now it could be different.”
