Nicknamed “Gilmarlândia”, an initiative by rural producer Eraí Maggi has the blessing of the STF minister, who is from the region
The State of Mato Grosso could gain a new municipality, informally nicknamed “Gilmarlândia”. The future city, which honors the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court), should be built around 300 km from Cuiabá, between Diamantino and São José do Rio Claro.
The official launch of the project – called Nova Aliança do Norte – took place on Saturday (21.Feb.2026), in the place that could become the 143rd municipality of Mato Grosso.
Born in Diamantino, Gilmar Mendes participated in the event and defended a “sum of efforts” between public authorities, private initiatives and the community to make the new planned city viable.
“I think this initiative of having a support nucleus for families and people who work in this region is important. We already have the experience of DC Holândia and now we have this project that was dreamed of by Eraí Maggi for a long time and which is beginning to unfold”stated the minister.
The proposal is led by rural producer Eraí Maggi and envisages the creation of a planned city to meet the growing demand for infrastructure, public services and urban support in a region marked by strong agricultural activity.
The meeting brought together political leaders, businesspeople and local representatives to discuss technical, legal and social aspects involving the viability of the project.
