Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine on Tuesday of attacking Russian energy and transport infrastructure in cooperation with Western secret services. He therefore ordered the Federal Security Service (FSB) to strengthen its protection. Putin made this statement exactly four years after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. TASR writes about it according to Reuters and TASS.
- Putin accused Ukraine and Western services of attacks on Russian infrastructure.
- He ordered the Federal Security Service to increase protection of critical infrastructure.
- He warned of possible explosions of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines.
- He said that the number of terrorist attacks in Russia increased last year.
- According to Putin, Ukrainian services and foreign curators are responsible.
“They have failed to defeat Russia strategically on the battlefield, so the enemy relies on individual and mass terror: this includes shelling cities, sabotaging infrastructure, and attempting to assassinate government and military officials.” he said in a speech before an audience of FSB officials, warning that Russian gas pipelines could be affected. “These are possible explosions of our gas systems at the bottom of the Black Sea – the so-called Turkish Stream and Blue Stream,” declared Putin.
At the session of the FSB collegium, the head of the Kremlin further stated that the number of terrorist attacks in Russia increased last year. In this context, he pointed out that most of them, as in the past years, are “undoubtedly the work of Ukrainian intelligence services and foreign curators.” According to Putin, the need to defeat Russia is absolute. “They will push themselves to the extreme and then regret it,” he declared.
Putin therefore issued the order “strengthen anti-terrorist protection of energy and transport infrastructure and public places, ensure maximum coverage of critical facilities and, if necessary, equip them with additional security measures”.
