Hero who saved his mother lived an unforgettable day at Estádio da Luz

Rodrigo, the nine-year-old boy who saved his mother’s life by calling 911 after she fell ill and passed out at the wheel, had a truly special day last Saturday, at Estádio da Luz.

After having visited the stadium days before, the child was invited to enter the field before the game between SL Benfica and AVS Futebol SAD. Rodrigo stepped onto the pitch hand in hand with Anísio Cabral, wearing a Benfica shirt with the number 112 and his name on the back, in a symbolic tribute to the gesture that saved his mother’s life.

In the teams’ initial lineup, he was positioned in front of Rafa Silva, who made a point of greeting him affectionately, in a moment of great emotion.

Already in the stands, Rodrigo watched the Eagles’ victory and was thrilled with the goals from Alexander Bah, Enzo Barrenechea and Rafa Silva. At the end of the meeting, he also had the opportunity to meet the entire red and black squad and coach José Mourinho, spending time with the players, taking photos and receiving an autographed shirt.

The day ended with smiles, hugs and collective recognition for a gesture of courage that transformed a child into a true hero.
