STF erodes its own capital, and recovery will take time – 02/24/2026 – Dora Kramer

The Federal Supreme Court did not end up where it is suddenly, by chance or without the effort of its members. It was a case of erosion of one of the constitutional precepts that guide public administration: impersonality.

Ministers adopted star-like attitudes and, in some cases, with a streak of pride more common in sub-celebrities than in real stars. They would only attract antipathy if they did not exceed other commandments of that defining article 37 of the 1988 Constitution, which requires civil servants to respect legality, morality, publicity and efficiency.

The cases of snub nose, sharp tongue and improper movement around the world do not need to be revisited, as they are included in the court’s liabilities. Furthermore, the problem no longer belongs to this or that minister, it belongs to the Federal Supreme Court, the highest representation of the Judiciary.

The Executive and Legislative branches are regular visitors to the news about negative events, but the wrongdoings committed by their members have the Courts as the authority for correction. It is to her that people turn to and it is to her that society places its trust.

Or rather, he deposited until the capital began to erode without paying attention to the warnings. A country distrustful of Justice is a country that does not trust the safe haven of legality.

To fix this, one or specific actions such as the minister’s crusades against the misuse of and as are not enough. These are good causes, but, in the case of , late.

It was not suddenly, by chance or without the connivance of judges that certain salaries reached today’s superlative level and that the distortions of undue payments were more scandalous in the Judiciary.

Recovering trust is a work that takes time, requires effort, self-criticism and, above all, public spirit. It’s past time to start.
