Priest advises and bride cancels wedding after groom imposes demands in MG

Not every hero wears a cape. It was using a cassock that Chrystian Shankar, a priest from the Diocese of Divinópolis (MG), avoided a probable disaster between a couple in the interior of Minas Gerais. After identifying bad signs in the relationship, he advised a bride to end the relationship, and she followed his advice.

The wedding was canceled after the intervention of a priest who advised the bride about the conditions imposed by her partner for the union.

The case gained repercussion after the priest’s report on the couple’s dynamics during the period of confession and preparation for marriage.

According to Chrystian Shankar, the woman presented the parish priest with a list with 13 items written by the groom, containing behaviors that she must change in order for him to accept marriage.

“I said: ‘My daughter, open your eyes while there’s still time. It’s clear that it won’t work'”revealed the priest.

When asked about the compensation, the bride reported that the man stated that he did not need any changes in his own conduct.

Cancellation of the ceremony

Despite criticism from the bride’s family, the clergyman defended his stance of warning the woman before the bond was finalized. For him, the cancellation represented a release for the faithful.
