CBF hopes to renew Ancelotti after the World Cup – 02/25/2026 – Sport

The president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Samir Xaud, said on Tuesday (24) that he hopes to renew the contract of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti so that he continues in charge of the national team after the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti, 66, took office in June last year, amid Brazil’s poor campaign in the South American Qualifiers.

“A year is too little to develop work that really bears fruit,” Xaud told journalists at the Rio Innovation Week event, in Rio de Janeiro.

The director confirmed that he is already in talks to renew with Ancelotti: “I really believe in the work he has been doing in the Brazilian team and, because we trust that, we started this renewal conversation.”

In an interview broadcast on Friday (20) in Spain with former Argentine player Jorge Valdano, Ancelotti expressed his desire to remain in the role for another four years.

“I think I’ll renew,” the Italian said at the time.

Brazil shares with Morocco, Scotland and Haiti in Group C of the World Cup, which will be played from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Before the World Cup, the team will play friendlies in March against France and Croatia and in June against Egypt.
