Iran’s Foreign Ministry said US President Donald Trump repeated “big lies” about the country in his State of the Union address.
Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei accused the White House of conducting a “disinformation and misinformation campaign” against the country in a statement published on the social network X on Wednesday morning (25).
“Everything they claim regarding , Iranian ballistic missiles and the number of casualties during the January riots is simply the repetition of ‘big lies,’” Baqaei said.
“Professional liars are good at creating the ‘illusion of truth,’” he wrote.
Trump speech
In his speech, Trump stated that he is concentrating US military resources around Iran to ensure that the country does not obtain nuclear weapons.
“But we have not yet heard those secret words: ‘We will never have a nuclear weapon,’” Trump said.
Iran, in fact, has clearly stated that it is not seeking to develop a nuclear bomb. On Tuesday (24), the country’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that Tehran “under no circumstances will develop a nuclear weapon”.
Trump also stated that. Iran claims that only 3,117 people died during the unrest, including around 200 police officers.
The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) news agency said that at least 6,490 protesters have been killed since mass protests began in late December. THE CNN was unable to independently verify the numbers.
