A survey carried out by says that the number of accidents involving vehicles that collided with electricity poles in Grande has increased in 2025.
According to the company, 573 incidents were recorded in the 24 municipalities in the metropolitan region of its concession area, compared to 549 cases in relation to 2024, an increase of 4.73%.
As a result, 472 thousand customers were left without electricity as a result of the collisions. Despite the lower number of accidents in 2024, Enel says that, in that year, almost 1.8 million consumers were affected.
The concessionaire is in the sights of the Lula, Tarcísio de Freitas and Ricardo Nunes governments, who blame it for service problems. Enel defends itself by blaming heavy rains, windstorms, problems with tree pruning and, now, collisions with poles.
Also according to the survey, the capital recorded 353 accidents in 2025, 23 more than in 2024.
Among the cities with the highest absolute number of cases, Cotia recorded eight more accidents, going from 13 to 21 records last year.
Enel states that collisions, in addition to putting drivers and pedestrians at risk, damage electrical infrastructure and the average time to repair or replace a pole is almost eight hours.
When a pole is damaged, the dealership passes on the costs of repairs and replacement of material to the owner of the vehicle involved in the incident.
