Consequences of a new war conflict in the Middle East between Israel, the US and Iran to a lesser extent passengers from MR Štefánik Airport in Bratislava were also affected (BTS). Smartwings carrier from there has so far canceled arrivals with vacationers from Muscat in Oman on Saturday (February 28) and Sunday evening, as well as the Sunday morning departure to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and the midnight arrival back. This follows from information about flights on the website of the Bratislava airport.
Travel agency Satur reported on Sunday that it continues to continuously monitor the situation in the Middle East and is working intensively on all available solutions to ensure the earliest and safe return of clients from Dubai to Slovakia. “All our clients in this destination are fine, accommodated in their hotels and our delegates are in regular contact with them,” stated on its portal that safety and client care remain its absolute priority.
Satur already reported on Saturday that canceled tours to Muscat and Dubai with scheduled departures on February 28 and March 1 for security reasons. Affected passengers are offered the option of choosing any alternative tour from the current offer, including the summer season or a full refund. He will ensure their return in the shortest possible time, as soon as the security situation allows.
“Due to the dynamic and unpredictable development of the situation, we will inform clients with later departures individually and well in advance.” the travel agency announced. If they are currently at the destination, they should contact the delegate who will provide them with the most up-to-date information. “If your trip to a Middle East destination is scheduled after March 1, 2026, there is no need to contact us at this time – we will keep clients informed as the situation develops,” added.
Uniqa Insurance Company due to the tense security situation in Iran, Israel and other parts of the Middle East, recommends all clients who planned to travel or are already in the given region to follow the official recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, which regularly updates travel recommendations.
“Due to canceled flights in the Middle East, many travelers have been stuck at destinations or airports for longer than planned,” said insurance company spokeswoman Beáta Lipšicová. Therefore, the travel insurance of all affected clients is automatically extended free of charge until they return home.
“The measure applies to anyone whose stay was extended due to a canceled or rescheduled flight due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and who had active Uniqa travel insurance at the time of their planned return,” she pointed out. According to it, insurance protection lasts continuously until safe return, including coverage of health care and assistance services abroad.
