The attack on Khamenei had a long preparation. The CIA mapped his movements and habits, say sources from the environment of the operation

The CIA spent months following Ayatollah Khamenei and mapping his habits. On the decisive day, her information allowed the US and Israel to precisely coordinate their attacks.

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) played a major role in the attack on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The information was brought by The New York Times (NYT) on Sunday, writes TASR according to the report of the DPA agency.

The New York Times, citing multiple unnamed sources familiar with the operation, wrote that the CIA had been monitoring Khamenei for several months and obtaining information about his location and habits.

On Saturday morning, US intelligence reportedly learned that a meeting of senior Iranian officials would be held in central Tehran and that Khamenei would be present. Thanks to this information, according to the NYT, the United States and Israel were able to coordinate the timing of the attacks, which were supposed to take place later in the night. The highest Iranian leader was killed in Saturday’s attack, several other officials are also dead.
