In a meeting with the allied base at Palácio do Planalto, the minister of institutional relations, listed the points that most concern the government in the security PEC and activated a task force in the Chamber to try to reverse some of them.
The point considered most problematic is the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility. The rapporteur, deputy Mendonça Filho (União-PE), . The measure would come into force in 2028, after a referendum. Government officials are trying to remove the section at all costs.
Minister Gleisi Hoffman also criticized the changes in transfers from the National Public Security Fund (FNSP). The text prioritizes the sending of resources to the states, reducing the Union’s margin to direct values. In Planalto’s assessment, the section decapitalizes the Federal Police.
Finally, a last point highlighted by the minister was the section that treats public security as an “integrated and decentralized” action. The government prefers to talk about coordination between the Union and States.
After the meeting at Palácio do Planalto, the government leader in the Chamber, deputy (-CE) makes a pilgrimage to the Chamber to guarantee a text that is more in line with what the government thinks.
This is not new in relation to the original project, proposed by the Executive. But government officials admit that they will not be able to change the entire project.
The strategy is to convince the rapporteur that, with these points, the government will make it difficult to approve the proposal. Depending on the agreement, the text could be voted on this Wednesday (4).
