3-year-old child seriously injured after being thrown to crocodiles in England: suspect arrested

A three-year-old boy was seriously injured after being thrown into the crocodile enclosure at a zoo in the county of Cambridge, England. A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to the magazine, the case occurred at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a British zoo that has more than a hundred animals. According to the British press, authorities believe, at an early stage, that the suspect did not know the child.

Woman tried to save the child

After the incident, a woman jumped into the reptile enclosure to try to help the boy. Emergency resources were mobilized to the scene, including an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a helicopter.

The child suffered serious injuries, including fractures to an arm and pelvis. According to authorities, he is in critical but stable condition.

The boy’s family is receiving psychological support. The police are collecting statements from people who were at the zoo at the time of the incident, to determine in detail the circumstances of what happened.

Man arrested for attempted murder

The suspect, a 30-year-old man, was detained by British authorities on suspicion of attempted murder. The investigation remains ongoing.

An inspector cited by the British press explained that the police are speaking to everyone present at the scene. The objective is to understand how the child ended up in the crocodile enclosure and reconstruct the events that preceded the incident.

So far, no further details have been released about the relationship between the suspect and the location, nor about the exact circumstances that led to the child falling into the room.

Zoo closes crocodile area

Johnsons of Old Hurst has announced that the crocodile space will be closed “until further notice”. The decision was made, according to the zoo, “out of respect for the child’s family.”

In a public message, the space stated that its thoughts are with the boy and his family. The administration has not yet provided further explanations about possible security changes at the venue.

The zoo, located in England, is home to animals such as tigers, lions, bears, meerkats and crocodiles. Reptiles have become one of the space’s main attractions over the years.

Investigation continues

According to the information released, the crocodiles were initially acquired to feed on leftover meat from a butcher shop associated with the space. Over time, they also became part of the zoo’s visitable offerings.

The place offers experiences for visitors, including activities linked to contact with animals and moments accompanied by keepers. Some of these experiences involve feeding animals, including crocodiles and lions.

The authorities are now continuing the investigation to clarify what happened. For now, the case is being treated as an attempted murder, while the child remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
