Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyan performed an unexpected diplomatic maneuver in his televised address on Saturday. He officially apologized to neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf for Iranian attacks that hit their territory in retaliation against the US and Israel. At the same time, however, he resolutely rejected any consideration of the capitulation of the Islamic Republic.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkiyan on Saturday apologized to neighboring countries for attacks that occurred during the Islamic Republic’s war with Israel and the United States. TASR writes about it according to the AFP agency.
“I apologize … to the neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran,” Pezeškian said in a speech broadcast on state television.
He also declared that his country would not surrender to Israel and the United States in the war, which entered its second week.
“The enemies must take their wish for the surrender of the Iranian people to their graves,” he said.
