Last Tuesday in Madrid, agents of the National Police arrested two experts in mixed martial arts (MMA) linked to radical jihadist ideologies, who are accused of alleged crimes of self-indoctrination, indoctrination of third parties, distribution of material intended for radicalization and documentary falsification.
One of them was known on social networks for his activity as a teacher teaching classes in different gyms in the Community of Madrid, having even come to compete internationally under sports federation.
The detainees were brought before the court on Friday morning, and both were ordered to be imprisoned, as reported by the National Police in a statement. During the operation, two home searches were carried out, where the agents intervened a simulated weapon and various documentation that is being analyzed.
During the investigation, the agents were able to verify the advanced radicalization process of one of the detainees, who showed a marked adherence to global violent jihad and a profound anti-Semitism, reflected in numerous contents that he disseminated and consumed through different digital environments.
Furthermore, he used both open social networks and virtual channels of a closed nature to spread an extremist discourse that praised martyrdom and defended the imposition of Islamic law in society.
For his part, the second of the detainees played a relevant role in the dissemination of material with jihadist content among third parties, thus contributing to the spread of this radical ideology.
Likewise, during the investigation it was detected possible commission of a crime of document falsification and the use of irregularly obtained Ukrainian documentation.
The investigation has been carried out by the General Information Commissioner’s Office under the direction of the Investigation Section of the Central Court of Instance Number 6 of the National Court.
