The president spoke about the seriousness of feminicide rates in the country in a speech on International Women’s Day
President Lula declared today (7) that they will be announced this March “new measures” to combat harassment against women in the digital environment. He also recalled that the so-called Digital Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA Digital) will come into force, which deals with the protection of children and adolescents.
Lula addressed the nation on International Women’s Day. The president spoke about the severity of feminicide rates in the country and mentioned that every 6 hours a man kills a woman in Brazil. Furthermore, he reinforced that the country is one of the most violent for women. “The overwhelming majority of these attacks happen at home, in an environment that should be protective,” he said.
At the beginning of February, the pact was launched “Brazil against feminicide” uniting the three powers. “Last Friday (6), we announced a set of actions to be implemented immediately. To begin with, a joint effort by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the state government to arrest more than 2,000 attackers of women who cannot and will not remain free,” he said.
Lula cited the strengthening of police stations, reference units and other actions against feminicide.
Addiction to online betting was also addressed in the statement. The president said that will seek the interruption of digital casinos with Congress and the Judiciary. “It doesn’t make sense to allow tiger games to enter homes,” he declared.
