The famous Greek fast food gyros is meat roasted on a large spit rotated around a vertical axis. Therefore, it is difficult to call dishes prepared at home gyros. This does not mean that you cannot recall your favorite flavor in your own kitchen, without trying to make the dish exactly similar to the original. Marinate the meat in gyros-kebab seasoning and let your imagination run wild. How about Chicken gyros with tomato and yellow cheese? This is juicy poultry seasoned with one of Poles’ favorite spices. Thanks to the yogurt marinade, the meat remains moistand baked tomatoes and yellow cheese add delicious flavor and satiety. Although it’s a simple dinner to make, it has a lot of flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breast fillets (about 500-600 g),
  • 200 g of Greek yogurt,
  • 1.5 tablespoons of gyros-kebab seasoning,
  • tomatoes,
  • 100 g of yellow cheese,
  • 1/2 teaspoon of basil,
  • salt, pepper (to taste).

How to do it:

1. Clean the chicken fillets (rinse, cut out membranes, tendons). Dry and cut crosswise to create 5-6 “pockets”. Mix Greek yogurt with gyros-kebab seasoning in a bowl. Rub the meat thoroughly with the sauce (also in the pockets) and set aside for half an hour.

2. Cut the tomato into slices (there should be as many slices as there are “pockets” in the fillets). Sprinkle them with salt, pepper and basil. Put them in “pockets”.

3. Cut the cheese into small but quite thick slices. Place them between the tomato slices.

4. Place the chicken fillets in a greased ovenproof dish. Place in the oven preheated to 180°C. Bake for 25 minutes.

5. Serve chicken gyroski decorated with greens. They go well with potatoes in any form or with rice.
