According to him, the war is almost over and the head of the White House indicated that many goals of the United States have already been met, reports TASR.
- Trump says the war against Iran is almost over.
- According to him, the American goals were fulfilled prematurely.
- According to Trump, Iran has lost its military capabilities.
- After his comments, oil prices fell and stocks rose.
- Trump will decide the end of the war together with Israel.
“I think the war is almost completely over,” he said. “They don’t have a navy, they don’t have communications, they don’t have an air force. Their missiles are scattered. Their drones are blown up everywhere, including their manufacturing plants. If you look, they have nothing left. Militarily, they have nothing left,” declared the US president.
Oil prices fell after Trump’s announcement and US stocks strengthened, although there are no signs of easing the ongoing fighting, writes AFP. At the same time, Trump insisted that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas supplies flow, is beginning to resume. Traffic through it practically stopped after the fighting started. In the interview, the US president again warned Iran against closing the strait and said he was “thinking about taking it over”.
They reached their goals early
He also stated in a telephone interview that the United States had succeeded in achieving its military objectives much earlier than planned. On February 28, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, which they described as a pre-emptive strike aimed at eliminating immediate threats to regional and global security, the main one being Tehran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons. On the very first day of the operation, they killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Trump announced on Sunday that he will decide on ending the war together with Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will participate in this decision, but according to his own words, the US president will have the final say.
