The former candidate for councilor in Sena Madureira, Fábio Ferreira de Souza, filed an internal appeal in an attempt to overturn the injunction that suspended the decision of the Regional Electoral Court of Acre (TRE-AC) in the process that investigates alleged fraud in the gender quota in the 2024 municipal elections.
The injunction was granted following a lawsuit filed by councilors elected by the Liberal Party (PL), Antônio Melônia, Ivoneide Bernardino and Kueiliton Barbosa, ensuring that they remain in office until the merits of the case are analyzed by the Court.

In the appeal, Fábio Ferreira’s defense argues that TRE-AC had already identified signs of fraud in two female candidacies presented by the party, which would have compromised the minimum percentage of 30% of women required by electoral legislation.
According to the appeal, if the irregularity is confirmed, the PL’s proportional ticket may be revoked. In this scenario, the votes received by the party in the 2024 elections would be annulled, which could result in the loss of mandates for the elected councilors and a new recount to define vacancies in the City Council.
The case is still being analyzed by the TSE, which must decide whether or not to maintain the injunction that suspended the TRE-AC decision.
