A video circulating on social media and messaging applications shows an indigenous man being subjected to attacks by members of a criminal faction in the municipality of , in the interior of Acre. The images were recorded this week and caused a strong repercussion among the city’s residents.

According to initial information, the indigenous person would be a person with a disability, which further increased the population’s outrage at the violence recorded in the video.

The Acre Civil Police reported that it has already started investigations to identify both the victim and the suspects involved in the torture, in addition to investigating the circumstances in which the crime occurred.

According to preliminary reports, the man had been the target of a type of “discipline” applied by members of the criminal faction Comando Vermelho, a practice used by criminal organizations to impose rules and intimidate residents in areas where they operate.
