Blogger accused of persecuting Dino remains silent during testimony to the PF

The blogger Luis Pabloinvestigated by the Federal Police (PF) for “illegal monitoring” against the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Flávio Dinochose to remain silent during testimony this Friday (13). He was targeted by the so-called fake news investigation after publishing reports about the official vehicle used by the magistrate and his family during travel in Maranhão.

. In the testimony, the PF delegate stressed that the blogger had the constitutional right to silence and to preserve the confidentiality of sources. He then warned that wouldn’t answer questions. The information belongs to the defense.

Dino claims his team detected monitoring and security threats and took the case to the PF and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

The case was initially processed under the care of minister Cristiano Zanin. The judge understood that there was parallels with the so-called fake news investigation and passed the investigation on to the case rapporteur, Alexandre Moraes.

In the order in which he ordered the search, Moraes stated that the author “used some state mechanism to identify and characterize vehicles”which would have allowed “undue exposure related to the security of authorities”. The PGR agreed with the search and seizure request.

In reports published from November onwards, Luís Pablo claims that Flávio Dino was using, in São Luís, an official vehicle belonging to the Court of Justice of Maranhão (TJMA) acquired with resources from the Special Magistrates Security Fund (Funseg-JE), intended for the institutional protection of magistrates and the activities of the state Judiciary.

According to the statement, any measure that violates this guarantee represents a threat to the free exercise of journalism. The Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) repudiated the determination as it assessed that it puts the entire category at risk.
