Admitted to the ICU, Bolsonaro is stable and is already eating a soft diet

Hospitalized since Friday, the 13th, at the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, to treat acute respiratory bronchopneumonia, former president Jair Bolsonaro is already showing improvements.

After fasting for a period during his hospitalization, Bolsonaro is now eating through his mouth, on a soft diet.

He still needs support to breathe, but without the need for intubation. He is receiving 2 liters of oxygen per minute through a nasal catheter.

The condition presented earlier today, according to the medical team accompanying him, is normal for diagnosis and should last for at least another 24 hours.

Bolsonaro was hospitalized with acute aspiration bronchopneumonia, caused by gastroparesis. This condition, which results in slow digestion, has been aggravated by inadequate eating before bed – or heavy or poorly chewed food. Bolsonaro felt chills, shortness of breath and extreme tiredness. Due to previous intestinal surgeries, he is undergoing antibiotic treatment.
