After spending 42 years on the run, the man convicted of death of 19 people during Carnival in 1984 in the city of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte, he was arrested last Friday (26) in Cuiabá, in Mato Grosso.
The episode, known as Baldo Tragedywas considered one of the most tragic in the city’s history. At the time, Aluísio Farias Batista was driving the bus that ran over revelers participating in the Puxa-Sacos block, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.
Batista, now 68 years old, was located last Friday by agents from the Polinter State Management in a residence in the Jardim Presidente I neighborhood, where, according to the police, lived discreetly and there were already forming a new family.

According to the Civil Police of Mato Grosso, the accused was located after weeks of surveys, analyzes using a facial recognition system and investigations carried out by the corporation’s operational sector, which found a person with characteristics similar to those of Aluísio.
