Alviverde beat the squad from the interior of SP 1-0 on their return to Allianz Parque
Mirassol was a thorn in Palmeiras’ side in the 2025 Brasileirão. With a great campaign, the team from the interior did not lose to the Alviverde team and imposed a defeat on the capital club that began the decline that took away from the Palmeiras team a double cry of champion. This Sunday (15), in your return to Allianz Parquedebuting the new synthetic lawn, Abel Ferreira’s men counted on the Flaco López’s precision to leave the field with a 1-0 victory in the sixth round of the national tournament.
Still in slow motion since winning Paulistão and with important absences, Palmeiras had a lackluster performance. Flaco López was by far the best on the field on the alviverde side, and the young left-back Arthur won a lot of applause, as Arias hasn’t met yet in the team and there has been a lack of inspiration.
The result leaves Palmeiras with 13 points in the standings. dispute for the leadership of the Brasileirão. Mirassol has six points and is in the second part of the championship table.
Palmeiras’ next match is scheduled for Wednesday (18), at Allianz Parque, against Botafogo, at 7pm. Mirassol plays at home, at 8pm on the same day, against Coritiba.
Mirassol was better than Palmeiras in the first minutes. The alviverde team tried to play a game with more ball possession, but the Slow exchange of passes bothered Abel Ferreirawhich demanded agility.
Palmeiras improved little by little and began to take control of the midfield. It was a matter of time before the goal came. At 25, Flaco López risked a shot from outside the area and scored a beautiful goal.
The home team got a shock when Gustavo Gómez reported a possible injury. Palmeiras does not have reserve defenders available. The most needy position in the squad has Murilo injured, Benedetti and Koné serving the under-20 team. That way, only the Paraguayan and Bruno Fuchs, the starters, are able to play. Soon, however, the Palmeiras captain recovered and returned to the game.
While Mirassol was unable to advance beyond the offensive midfield, the match was very favorable to Palmeiras for counterattacksbetting on speed on the sides to catch Mirassol’s defense off guard. However, the white team had difficulty getting the fundamentals right and wasted successive moves that could have resulted in a goal.
Mirassol returned for the second half with three changes in order to change the course of the match and be more dangerous. The idea had an effect, and the interior team took to the attacking field and made Palmeiras’ defense sweat in marking.
Palmeiras used and abused, in the second half, its most common weapons in the Abel era: the counterattack and quick exchange of passes.
There were few dangerous moves. There was some tension when the video referee analyzed a possible penalty shot by Victor Luís, today at Mirassol.
