Napoleón’s presidential candidate Becerra died this Sunday (15) after a traffic accident while traveling to a campaign appointment in the south of the country. The information was released by Peruvian press vehicles.
Becerra was 67 years old and one of 36 candidates running for president in the general election scheduled for April.
According to information released by Peru’s state press and the politician’s party spokesperson, Emely Silva, the accident occurred while he was traveling along the Vía de los Libertadores highway, in the Huancavelica region, heading to the city of Ayacucho, where he would participate in campaign activities.

So far, local authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances of the accident.
The candidate’s death takes place in the middle of the country’s electoral campaign and had repercussions among political leaders and supporters on social media.
