The former president () showed clinical and laboratory improvement in the last 24 hours, with recovery of kidney functions and improvement in inflammatory markers, according to a medical bulletin released this Monday (16) by the DF Star hospital, in Brasília.
After the release of the statement, the former first lady (PL) reported in a post that the former president was transferred to the semi-intensive unit, but DF Star has not yet confirmed the statement.
According to the bulletin, signed by the medical team treating the former president, there is no forecast for discharge. The improvement in health is a sign of a favorable response to antibiotics, according to doctors.
Bolsonaro was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) on Friday (13), due to bronchoaspiration. In addition to administering medication, he is undergoing motor and respiratory physiotherapy.
The medical team accompanying Bolsonaro in Papudinha produced a report on Thursday (12), the day before his hospitalization, stating that the former president was in a regular state of health. The report points out, however, that he had a bout of hiccups during the night.
At 6:45 am on Friday, Bolsonaro called the middle team and reported nausea and tremors during the early hours of the morning. The team then decided to immediately transfer to DF Star. The former president arrived at the hospital with nasal oxygen support and underwent tomography and laboratory tests.
There, bronchopneumonia was detected. On Saturday, a medical bulletin signed by doctors Claudio Birolini, Leandro Echenique, Brasil Caiado, Antônio Fagundes Jr. and Allisson Borges confirmed the inflammatory markers.
Bolsonaro’s health condition is a result of the knife attack he suffered during the 2018 election campaign.
The most recent episode of hospitalization must, from the (Supreme Federal Court). It is up to him to respond to requests for house arrest filed by Bolsonaro’s defense.
“The doctors reassured me that if it had taken an hour or two, [Bolsonaro] it could have progressed to a situation of widespread infection”, said Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the former president and pre-candidate for President. “[Isso] reinforces the importance of him being permanently monitored, whether by family members or health professionals, 24 hours a day.”
Bolsonaro is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for attempting a coup d’état after the 2022 electoral defeat. After passing through the Federal Police Superintendence in Brasília, he is currently incarcerated in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the DF, known as Papudinha.
