PT launches Haddad’s pre-candidacy for SP government this Friday

The current Finance Minister is expected to leave the portfolio this week to dedicate himself fully to the campaign from April

Although his name was considered for the Senate, Haddad’s decision focuses on the state dispute, aiming to guarantee support for Lula’s presidential campaign in São Paulo.

The Workers’ Party (PT) scheduled for next Friday (20), at 10 am, the official announcement of the pre-candidacy of Fernando Haddad to the Government of the State of São Paulo. The event will take place at the Sindicato dos Químicos, in the capital of São Paulo, and will feature the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Haddad is expected to leave the Ministry of Finance this week to dedicate himself fully to the campaign from April onwards, after a short period of rest. Although his name was considered for the Senate, the aiming to guarantee support for Lula’s presidential campaign in São Paulo.

Internally, the PT is now seeking to define the name of the vice-governor, preferably a center figure to expand dialogue with voters less aligned to the left. For the Senate, names like Simone Tebet and Marina Silva are among the trends to make up the majority ticket.
