More than 100 deputies ask Bolsonaro to domicile – 03/18/2026 – Brasília Hoje

More than 100 federal deputies from the opposition and the centrão signed a request sent this Wednesday (18) to the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) to press for the humanitarian house arrest of the former president (), currently admitted to a hospital in Brasília with bronchopneumonia.

The request for Bolsonaro to leave Papudinha, headed by Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO), has the signature of dozens of congressmen from the former president’s party, but it also has the support of names from other parties, such as , , , and .

Among the signatories of these parties are, for example, Pedro Lupion (Republicanos-PR), Luiz Gastão (PSD-CE), Alfredo Gaspar (União-AL), Any Ortiz (Cidadania-RS), Alceu Moreira (MDB-RS), Evair Vieira de Melo (PP-ES) and Hugo Leal (PSD-RJ).

The president of Novo, Adriana Ventura (SP), and two other parliamentarians from the party, (RS) and Gilson Marques (SC), also signed the document.

In the request, the deputies list Bolsonaro’s health problems, which include hiccups, reflux, unilateral inguinal hernia and recurring episodes of pneumonia. The former president (13) at the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

According to congressmen, Bolsonaro’s “complex set of serious illnesses” requires constant medical supervision, quick access to exams, medicines and possible hospitalizations. They argue that even the headquarters of the PF Superintendence, where Bolsonaro was previously, would not be suitable.

“It should be noted that several of these illnesses have the potential for sudden worsening, which could pose an immediate risk to the life of the person in custody and, in an extreme scenario, lead to their death. Such an outcome, in addition to configuring a clear violation of fundamental rights, would trigger an inevitable and profound social upheaval, especially given the pronounced political polarization that permeates the country today”, says the document.

Although the deputies do not mention Moraes by name in the request, it is up to the minister to decide on Bolsonaro’s house arrest. He is the rapporteur of the court case that sentenced Bolsonaro to 27 years and 3 months in prison for an attempted coup d’état.

The former president’s lawyers also filed a complaint on Tuesday (17), arguing that there had been a worsening of the situation.

Bolsonaro’s hospitalization rekindled an effort in the STF for Alexandre de Moraes to authorize the home regime.

At court, at least two ministers close to the rapporteur are dedicated to this convincing effort, which began last year. In the words of a minister, the transfer became a humanitarian issue.

When denying the request in early March, Moraes stated that the former president’s health problems can be monitored and treated in the place where he is imprisoned. Papudinha has 24-hour medical assistance, an advanced Samu unit and free access to Bolsonaro’s medical team.
