Slovak actor Roman Luknár, known as the star of the series Panelák or Behind the Glass, he has decades of successful career behind him not only at home but also in Spain. In an open interview for he admitted that serious health problems forced him to fundamentally limit his activities.
The popular artist broke his silence and openly revealed that he has been fighting multiple sclerosis for years. This incurable disease of the nervous system claimed the floor unexpectedly and extremely aggressively, which fundamentally changed his daily existence. “The year 2020 came, I fell to the ground and could not walk,” he bluntly described a dramatic moment that caught him off guard.
However, the real shock awaited him only in the hospital, where he heard a chilling cry from the mouth of the primary care officer. He had to tell him the cruel truth without any embellishments. “The mayor told me: ‘You have multiple sclerosis. You’ve already been twenty years old, but you didn’t know it. So I’m telling you now, and it’s only going to get worse and worse‘,“ quoted his words.
Confused, Luknár tried to absorb the harsh reality. “I asked how worse? What does that mean?” he was concerned about his future, but the doctor’s answer was chillingly direct. “You’re going to position yourself from that cart and then goodbye,” he explained without any empathy. He refused to accept such a definitive prognosis.
Despite the pessimistic prospects, he contacted the same doctor again after a few years. “Are you alive? I gave you 6 to 9 months!” he told him with great surprise. Although medicine did not give him much hope, he proved that the power of the mind and inner attitude can work wonders.“I told him I’d dance every morning too,” he remarked with amusement.
According to his own words, he even feels better than twenty years ago. He found the key to inner peace in domestic seclusion and in selecting the stimuli he receives. “I don’t go anywhere, and therefore what my eye sees, what my ear hears, it processes my consciousness and gives such chemistry to the river where our cells divide – either good or bad. And I’m content with being locked up at home with my dog.” he clarified with a soft smile.
Once a busy actor who went from project to project, today he perceives the limelight with great insight. He made his priorities clear and without unnecessary sentiment. “If I show up somewhere, it’s more to make a living,” he admitted without embellishment. Although he was one of the most sought-after faces in front of the camera, today much less is enough for him. “I don’t need to play the main characters,” he added.
