Due to great interest, the exhibition was extended until May 31, 2026.

The exhibition was prepared by an international team of scientists, archaeologists, artists and craftsmen. The result is a perfect picture of an ancient civilization and its ruler, complemented by a timeless immersive reality that will bring visitors an even more authentic and immersive experience. It is part of the exhibition an audio guide that describes the adventure of discovering Tutankhamun’s tomb and describes individual exhibits in detail. The Children’s Trail is for the youngest visitors, which will help them understand the life of a young pharaoh in ancient times.

For Koktejl.sk she spoke about the exhibition Dr. Phil. Veronika Verešová, Egyptologist from SAS. “We are at the exhibition Tutankhamun and his treasures, and on this occasion I have chosen such a very attractive topic for ordinary people, which brings us very close to those ancient Egyptians. To bridge that Tutankhamun. Specifically for make-up and cosmetics in ancient Egypt. This topic is very close not only to us, but it was already to the ancient Egyptians, because in ancient Egypt, simply ordinary people, but of course also the higher-ranking monarchs and really absolutely everyone, whether they were women or men, tried to achieve such a divine idealthat means the ideal of beauty, youth, and therefore health, freshness and purity,” revealed the expert.

For this purpose, according to her, they used a large number of different preparations, means of which we have images, written monuments and they are also commonly found during research as archaeological finds.

“It was primarily about skin care, on the one hand, that means protection, cleansing, protection against, for example, the sun, various other harmful factors, but also softening and prevention of wrinkles, that was something that was very desirable. Then of course it was make-up, that is the very well-known dark make-up, but green was also used in Egypt for the eyes, which is known to that it was really used not only by the rich, but also by ordinary people, workers. That means that it had not only an aesthetic meaning, when you consider how the dark line enlivens the eye, but also actually a practical one, because the make-up, one could say, protected the eye much like today’s sunglasseswe can compare it to that,” she surprised with a revelation that few knew about.

Make-up thus had an interesting function. “So it shaded a little bit, they applied it in very thick layers. And last but not least, it was found, mainly through the last various analyzes of the remains that have been preserved for us in various containers, that actually the components that it contained this makeup actually had antibacterial effects. This means that they were able to literally stimulate a person’s immunity against various bacteriawhich were everywhere in Egypt,” she added a stunning fact at the end.
