Diesel prices in Brazil have risen by more than 20% since the start of the war in Iran

According to a survey of CNN Money based on data from the ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels), the average price of common diesel in Brazil has grown 20.39% since the beginning of conflicts in the Middle Eastthree weeks ago.

In the week of February 28th, the first day of the conflict, the average price of fuel was R$6.03. .

It is also worth noting that in the weeks before the start of the conflict, the price had registered a drop and then stability, at around R$6.

Fuel had a similar growth of 20.29%. In the week the conflict began, the average price of fuel in the country was R$6.11. Now, according to this week’s ANP survey, the price has reached R$7.35.

Also according to the ANP historical series, this is the highest recorded value of fuel during the Lula (PT) government. The last time diesel reached this level was in the first week of August 2022, when the average price recorded was R$7.37.

At that time, diesel was registering a drop, even at high levels, as it was being impacted by the complementary law approved in Congress that limited ICMS on fuels.

It is important to highlight that diesel is the main fuel in the country due to its use in industry and in the road, the main and cargo mode used in Brazil. Therefore, an increase in the price of this fuel impacts the entire consumption chain.
