UN calls for military restraint after attacks on nuclear complexes first in Iran and then in Israel.
The war in the Middle East has entered a “dangerous phase” with attacks close to nuclear facilities in Iran and Israel. The alert was given this Sunday by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“Attacks on nuclear installations represent a growing threat to public health and environmental security”, said, on the social network X, the director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The WHO chief made an urgent appeal to “all parties to exercise maximum military restraint and avoid any action that could trigger nuclear incidents.”

“The Natanz enrichment complex was targeted this morning,” said the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), cited by the Tasnim news agency, which added that “no leakage of radioactive material was reported” in the area.
Natanz, Iran’s main uranium enrichment site, was hit in the first week of the war and several buildings appeared to have been damaged, according to satellite images. The IAEA said that “no radiological consequences” resulted from this attack.
The nuclear facility, located nearly 220 kilometers southeast of Tehran, had already been the target of Israeli and American air strikes in the 12-day war between Iran and Israel, in June 2025.
The attack occurred after the North American President, Donald Trumphaving said on Friday that was considering “decreasing” military operations in the Middle East, even as the US sent three more amphibious assault ships and around 2,500 additional marines to the region.
